Green Circle:
A Tool to Help Children Develop Skills in Altruism

The Goal of this workshop is to give you specific tools to take back to your classrooms toward creating a more socially happy environment and enhancing learning and joy in learning. 

The following is our format to accomplish this task.

Warming up to the value of feelings: 
We will evaluate our mood for the day using “Feelings A-Z”

How did we get here? 
Brief introductions from the presenters and why they are here to share about Green Circle with you. 
How the seed of Green Circle grew the inspirations of the Reggio Emilia Approach to create Spring Hollow Community Learning Center inc. 
We will explore “Common Goals of Green Circle and Reggio Emilia.”

Movie Time: A few vignettes of the interaction of Green Circle and young children.

Now it is your turn to experience “The Green Circle Presentation,” meet the famous “Churkendoose” and practice “The Green Circle Song.”

The Challenge: How do we make Green Circle come alive in our classrooms? 

Understanding self to be more effective in understanding others: using “Values Clarification”

Breaking up into small groups to collaborate to create Green Circle Follow-up ideas using “The Problem Solving Technique.”

Movie Time: A few vignettes to demonstrate integration of the Green Circle concepts into Spring Hollow Community Learning Center

How can I become a better listener? 
Learning how to use all levels of listening: non-verbal cues, door-openers, reflective, and active

Breaking up into small groups to take turns practicing “The Green Circle Presentation”

A bit of research to show that Green Circle is effective in creating a more socially accepting classroom environment
